Recommended Firefox Extensions
After the previous post, I think it's useful to take an overview of the Firefox extensions I use and greatly improve my browsing experience.
AdBlock Plus: Need to block unwanted advertisements (ie practically all, from my point of view). Some do not approve the use of this extension, is a controversial issue, because there are sites that support your thanks to advertising. But there is also saying that some are abusing the system of advertising, to the point that it is very difficult to discern the true content of the page. As long as things are so I will continue to use it.
Lazarus: If you use forums or social networks, you happened to experience a crash or close a window by mistake while writing a long post, losing all its contents, and refusing to rewrite it again. Lazarus save any text you enter in text boxes, allowing you to recover quickly.
Xmarks : If you use multiple PCs (home, work, laptop) you happened to find a great site and then save the bookmark, but do not have that available on other PCs. Xmarks you save the bookmarks and synchronize them when you open Firefox with another PC, automatically and invisibly. It also allows you to save your password encrypted, and to consult the online list of bookmarks.
Greasemonkey, a sort of "Swiss boxcutter," which allows you to add functionality to a web page, or alter their appearance, for example, with scripts specially created in Javascript. With the addition of Greasefire , you can also browse a list of scripts already created for that site and add them.
TimeTracker : If you navigation often turns into a wreck, or if you spend more time than you should, this extension will come in handy. Simple and practical at the same time. More in previous post.
These are not the only useful extensions, but they are a good starting point. Also, remember not to overdo it, because several extensions installed, the longer it will load.
soon a bet on an extension for the development of websites!

How To Hack A Sideckic
TimeTracker, a counter-ons
If you're reading this blog, like me, spend much time on the Internet, especially for leisure, but have you ever wondered what a day?
you ever think "Gee, but how late! But how much time I spent in surfing? "
If the answer is yes, there is a very useful Firefox extension called TimeTracker . In the bottom right you will always have an eye on the time you spent on the Internet beginning the day, with the ability to exclude certain addresses that used to work, and then you do not want to count.
TimeTracker is important to say that only counts the time spent surfing actually : stop if you go to another window or if you are inactive for more than 1 minute, and even during breaks loading
I put it today, and is already proving very useful to optimize the time spent on the Web!

Replacing O2 Sensor Yukon
Navigation District 9 All
I went to see him in weeks. A very interesting film, for two reasons: one because, despite being a science fiction film tries to give a strong message about the issues of immigration and racism, the other for the technique is made, a mix of cinema and documentary, similar to other titles that have had some success: "The Blair Witch Project," "Cloverfield", "REC" and the more recent "Diary of the Dead" by George Romero, as yet unpublished in Italy.
Like the aforementioned films, this one uses a massive viral campaign (the site of MNU, the blog of an alien political dissident) that constitute if you wish, an in-depth than the main plot and not just promotional.
The film relies on the production of Peter Jackson and Weta Digital special effects (the same as "The Lord of the Rings") and in fact the images that portray the alien ship "parked" over Johannesburg are realistic and convincing.
The choice of Johannesburg as the scene of the story is not accidental: it is indeed the symbol of apartheid. What happened between the first white men and blacks, now takes place between humans and aliens. The implicit message is that racism and discrimination of "different" seems to be a constant in human history, and whenever we can no longer hit an enemy one looks for a new one, let there be. The films range
seamless clips from documentaries, amateur footage, images of television news, interviews, and filming "classic" to give a multifaceted view of each other.
The plot is well constructed all in all: we do not have the classic protagonist who is on the side of the righteous and the oppressed (in this case the "prawns" aliens), but all in all a person is mean and vile.
However, events in which finds himself, against his will radically change the (sounds like a cliché, but trust me, this time it's very appropriate!)
Another theme that emerges "between the lines," is the manipulation of information in and instrumental political ends. Want to avoid alarming the population, or to bury responsibility, or greed of power and money, the media have an official version of reality but is counterfeit than real, and that we viewers know why we are also presented the unfolding the story from the perspective of the protagonist.
Although I liked it is clear that this is not a film appreciated by anyone, especially those expecting the classic science fiction movie mainstream.

Cellulitis Of The Genitalia
Regular ...
10 days of silence and, unfortunately, few new elements. The software I'm developing is basically the point of a few days ago. Also because of a loss of data that I reported the situation around the end of September. Now I'm rewriting the code being closer every day to save the changes, so as to prevent spills. But I am confident in one thing: to return to the same place as before, probably will take less time, and the result will be better, it often happens when you are to rewrite some code already done.
I still can not set a date for a public release, I have to go a little 'later. I must also try to focus my energies on those that are the essential features (post export) even if the temptation is to make a full-featured software "extras" that could still serve.

Splinder Exporter .... we're almost
After thinking a bit 'much thought I decided to change approach, and I was inspired to that followed by those who have made a plugin to import a Wordpress blog on Splinder.
template editing is required, but not particularly invasive, in that it adds a bit of code silently.
However, this is a good solution that has already yielded positive results. However when I try it only with my blog, just because we need a change to the template.
soon publish the code needed to test Splinder Exporter on your blog, by the time I still need to make small adjustments.
say however that for hours I can successfully import the posts, with title, date, time and content. Missing for now importing the comments (but I'm working) and also still do not keep track of the authors (useful for group blogs).
Another thing that is missing (but that can be resolved soon) are the tag.
Among other things, there are several issues that came to my mind when I developed the code:

- would be useful to convert internal links Splinder internal link in Blogspot. I just have to see if it is feasible.
- Another nice thing would be to offer advanced features such as import only a portion of the post, with certain criteria (before / after a certain date, for example). To hours concentrate only on that basis.

Incidentally, the degree course in Computer certainly did not teach me how to solve the problems of everyday life with computers (Internet connection is wrong, as the Word format a text, bla bla bla ...). These are all things you can learn a bit 'of passion and experience. Above all, if we do not succeed does not mean that we are incapable, but simply and 'something you can' fix in 5 minutes searching on Google.
PS I do not blame anyone, just that I happened on this cartoon and I think that describes perfectly the situation in which I often am.

Why Is There Metal Around Trees In Hawaii
Small turning point uphill
In the previous post I said that there were difficulties in importing the data. Well, I added a small piece that has improved the situation considerably. There is an open source library called HTML Tidy, and just serves to "clean up" the ill-formed HTML code. It was originally written in C.
This library is used by a Python binding (ie a library that acts as "glue" between two languages, in this case C and Python) named μTidylib .
I tried it on my blog e. .. Well, the results are very good. I solved the problems I had when reading data. I tried with a handful of blogs selected at random, I can not say the same.
Tidy library to read and can not successfully convert the HTML code, and returns an empty file instead of the page cleaned up.
Unfortunately this time we are faced with a problem I had in a sense, feared, and that is that we were dealing with bad HTML format so heavy. What I do not is expected that the situation was so widespread. The only other blog that I could parse correctly is one that uses the same template that I use.
do not know who is to blame, if the browser is too permissive with regard to the most serious errors in the HTML pages rather than the little information with regard to issues such as W3C validation, the fact is that I am losing a lot of time to correct mistakes made by others, to ensure maximum compatibility.
I do not know which way to catch, if groped to give maximum compatibility correcting errors "downstream" or leave the burden to users to correct errors in the template.
In any case remains a last beach: change the template with a "minimal", that guarantees to eliminate up to its mistakes. If I turn
publish a small "gallery of horrors."

Using Coconut Oil In Baking
For the moment I have made great progress with my Splinder-exporter Blogspot.
As I said, I'm using as Beautiful Soup parser, since it is more permissive than the standard, because of errors.
At this early stage I am trying to rebuild an index of all posts, then to recover the contents one by one.
Unfortunately the initial phase, which is to do the parsing of HTML is becoming more difficult than I thought: for some reason the parser crashes in the middle of the page, before you start to analyze the post.
's not all, I did the following test: I opened the page with Firefox, then I saved to a file, and I opened that page instead of the remote, well, everything worked perfectly (in the sense that retrieves the data that interest me). My suspicion is that there are illegal characters in the page that Firefox probably unable to solve alone. Should I try another parser and see the result. In particular, try with a validating XML parser, tell me where there is an error.
What happened has led me to make the following conclusions:
- The template does not follow the letter of the rules of HTML, XHTML, or even better, can be a problem, because it makes life very difficult for existing parser.
- You can repair a badly written HTML code, but there is a risk that some parts may be lost.
This will eliminate the problem of having pages of complicated and also speeds up the parsing, but I would avoid this solution if possible.

not come in threes : I'm making a small software to transfer your blog from Blogspot to Splinder. For the moment it is still usable, however, leave here on the blog if you really want to follow the development and maybe try it. The only things I can say is that it's written in Python and will be open source.
And now a bit 'of tech-talk for those interested in programming:
We are still in their infancy, but even the HTML parsing essereun step is trivial. In fact, the class HTMLParser Python requires a valid HTML according to the XHTML. And rightly so, s'inchioda and raises an exception before you get to the information that interest me.
Luckily I found an alternative to the standard parser, which seems well made: it is called Beautiful Soup , whose motto is: "Do not you wrote that code HTML. Interests you only pull out some data. Not interested to know that aspect should be HTML. Even in this parser . "In the sense that you do not care too much about form, but only to extract the data you need.

Sellaband, when the important thing is to believe (in music)!
often on Web search is one thing and another it is more interesting.
few days ago looking for information about a group called Nemesea , Dutch symphonic rock band, for those who are interested in. Doing the usual research on the Italian Wikipedia, I realize that there is a page dedicated to them, but I find them mentioned in another article. The name of the Sellaband page.
Intrigued, I begin to read, and I find that this is a site whose aim is to produce artists who want to make a disk without going into the circuit of the majors. What is innovative is the way they collect the funds, with a system that operates from the bottom: Anyone can join the site and decide to become a "believer" (and here we explain the post title) of a particular artist, pouring a share (defined as "part") of $ 10. The artist, meanwhile, can sign up for free and create a profile, biography, pictures and demos of their songs.
When you reach the quota of $ 50,000, Sellaband is committed to producing the disc.
But what earns the believer? First of all, a finished work will get a limited edition copy of the disc. If you have paid several times their height, can choose to receive as many copies as its parts, or sell the discs through the site in excess.
If the disc will be produced for the artist retires, you can always move the share to another artist, or receive a refund.
As you can see, you do not lose anything and in any case it has helped to enrich the music scene with deserving people. Nemesea
What does have to do with it? Simple, they are the first band to have reached the fateful goal of $ 50,000, and he then produced a disc. The other
interesting thing to me is the absolute, (at least in theory) independent of the system imposed by the majors, which usually forces the authors (emerging, of course) to accept contracts from hungry and sometimes even lose money, just to see the release of their album.
Link: SellaBand
PS This is the post that was lost on Splinder, and that I rewrote from scratch. Perhaps the original version was a bit 'longer, I'm not sure. However, it seems to me wrote a little 'better.

Period Urination Painful
A new beginning ... and invective against
This is my old blog: The Final Experiment
do not really have never used the blog much, but I believe that good blogging platform should aim primarily to simplicity.
I could install Wordpress or any other blogging software on my personal space: this would give me greater freedom to customize, but just did not feel the need. When it happens I will.
I am interested primarily have a place to write down some of the content they find interesting for me (and hopefully for others) along with personal reflections and so on, but sets conditions Splinder quite strange to manage a blog. Here are the main faults I found:
About the blog name, I kept the same theme of the former: it is always taken from an album of Ayreon , but later: The Universal Migrator Part I: The Dream Sequencer . The Dream Sequencer is a machine that allows you to mentally relive past events, a sort of "machine of memories" if you will. Until next time!
PS If my motivation still not enough, take a trip on the blog soluzioni.splinder.com (which by the tone of the users' posts should be renamed problemi.splinder.com)

- To save draft messages that ask you to pay a subscription. For what I need, not worth the expense. If the conditions were different, maybe I would, but for what I think, then spend a little more for a website and we install Wordpress ...
- Personalization is rather inconvenient: the smallest change necessary to change the entire page template. After you've tried and recommended to my friend, I am sorry because I put her in trouble when it comes to adding a simple link in a welter of HTML / CSS. The Blogger system is much more comfortable, and offers a good compromise.
- step 2. can be solved by using a layout already made (and they are many!) provided you find a perfect or nearly so. Ma .. Many creators of layout require that it is not modified , not even in color . It's fine for copyright owners to take their work there, but honestly I find it an exaggeration. The standard layouts are freely editable, so I took one of those, and I've done what I wanted. Too bad that was not much of a girlfriend.
- editor WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get): great, it works fine. But I have often had difficulties in the layout and put videos from Youtube content, I had to edit the HTML by hand to fix it. And worst of all, for security reasons that frankly I do not want to investigate, I can not copy and paste with the context menu (right), but only with CTRL + C and CTRL + V. Very convenient, really.
- I wrote a post after a long silence.
- Well, the public, but the title I do not like, and I decide to change it.
- The change means a good but ... I made a spelling error.
- I try to change it again, but remains as before.
- then decide at this point to copy-paste and rewrite it in a new post.
- Nothing to be done, there is always the case.
- Then I think: OK, I'll update later.
- On my return, the post had disappeared, a sign that had been effectively canceled.
About the blog name, I kept the same theme of the former: it is always taken from an album of Ayreon , but later: The Universal Migrator Part I: The Dream Sequencer . A conference that will be held 17 to 19 September 2009 by ' Association of Women and Science, in collaboration with the Coordination Neapolitan D & S and Fondazione IDIS-Città della Scienza. Scientists domestic economy market economy Women, research, economics and innovation
With this conference we want to explore what appears to many a paradox for women who like to research: the time for them to finally open this route, abandons the search features of theoretical development, freedom of inquiry, choice of fields. Rather there is a pressure to produce technological innovation, marketable. Women are now a few decades in training highly qualified travel routes. obtain a degree and a doctorate often, at higher levels of quality and quantity of their male colleagues. However, in academic courses disappear. We want to ask whether, on this issue does not affect also the connotation of the post-academic science and if women can not but bring to it a whole new wealth. This wealth could result in solutions for a society overwhelmed by the crisis in the real economy (which was created by the explosion to pay), but requires an understanding of the economic mechanism and power that women have been excluded.

WOMEN: THE HAND "healthy" THE WORLD ECONOMY
The German Chancellor Angela Merkel confirmation in 2009 for the fourth consecutive year his presence as "most powerful woman on the planet" .
At Merkel is credited with "Pulled" by the economic woes in Germany ahead of schedule and it is said that in September some will win a second term. According to the weekly
Forbes, who has published two days ago the annual ranking dominated by business, with the exception of Merkel, the first place for the fourth time, the other nine in the squad head are all heads of 'company, whether it's French Anne Lauvergeon, president of the French nuclear group Areva - 9 number as in 2008 - or U.S. Irene Rosenfeld, president of Kraft Foods (sixth). If last year was the seventh position of Condoleezza Rice, then Secretary of State, the current head of U.S. diplomacy, Hillary Clinton, completed in 2009 to 36th place in 2008 was the 28th, when it was not that Senator of the State of New York. The French Economy Minister Christine Lagarde is in 17th place, relegated three positions, and U.S. first lady Michelle Obama is entering the fortieth place. The Argentine President Cristina Fernandez is the eleventh, 13th last year.
Marina Berlusconi, as in the previous rankings, is the only Italian that Forbes recognizes power in the international scale of values \u200b\u200band gain a position from 34 to 33rd place. The other Italian for "weight" Giuliana Benetton is out of the top 100 in 2008 and his daughter the Head of Government and chairman of the Fininvest group help the lonely 'cordata' Italian unless it wants to include Sonia Gandhi, president of the Indian National Party, which also increased from 21 to 13th step.
What is most striking in the 2009 version of the estimated ranking, is the advance of American women who - despite the crisis, or perhaps because of it - go from 55 appearances last year to the current 63. On the other hand have disappeared from the international panel of two Russian female power and the four Chinese who broke the monotonous list of Anglo-Saxon.
Women "sun" are not few. Germany's Merkel and just, Italy Marina Berlusconi, Ana Patricia Botin, Spain (chairman of Banesto), Cristina Fernandez of Argentina, Australia, Gail Kelly, Westpac's number one, Switzerland Margaret Chan, Director-General World health organization. The United Arab Emirates that make their entry represented by the Minister of Economy Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi.
Women and the economy are inseparable. And more and more women are emerging in an industry dominated by men such as the global economic strategies. Two American anthropologists Steven Kuhn and Mary Stiner have shown the woman who always took charge of running the household worked and saved wisely, has woven wire and cooked food, has cultivated the land and handling the clay. In a word she invented the economy. And now? Now she manages other companies, he deepened his studies with the same wisdom of the time, with determination, a sense of reality, with a broader vision on the world that does not end in a few lands close to her.

AN OPEN BLOG FOR A CONSTRUCTIVE DIALOGUE WITH CITIZENS
Blog Why? Because in a time like this, where the citizen calls for a more direct dialogue with institutions, with those who represent it, to open new channels allowed by the new social media is a commitment and a duty for those who participate in the political life of a country.
E 'with great pleasure that I extend an invitation to all those who wish to participate in the construction of our young Europe, as Italy has become an increasingly significant factor in driving and healthy nations. Because I, like you, strongly in the process of unification and integration of Europe.
I also believe that the European Union should take a healthy starring role on the international scene, bringing its historical experience of integration while basing its foreign policy activity on respect for and promotion of human rights in all countries of the world.
International cooperation, which should express the high European value of solidarity and justice for the enforcement of civil, political, economic, cultural and social of all human beings, it is also an important tool for building peaceful and fruitful international relations.
I'll be glad to welcome in this area your advice and suggestions.
