C redo one can speak of the work of Max Bridge, starting already from the cover as a book of protest. The cover, then: provocative, deliberately disturbing; cover which, in its arrangement graphic, almost designed to confuse the reader inattentive and attract him, however, the reader beyond the immediacy of the reception. From here, the number of protesters ironically work. Protest, mind you, free and hardness of militant dogmatists; protest Palazzeschi, rigorous in its (software?) Figure and confusing story-telling, never derogating from the sweetness of pastiche of controlled chaos , Treat the primordial nature of the word which he opposes any attempt to harness human misery, to force her. Review of Music for the Spirit 2010
Hardly, in the past, even far away, the civic church chapel of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary in Trieste has been able to attend events like those that were conducted last August 14 and 15, in the feast of the Assumption of Mary into heaven SS.ma, the so-called "Easter summer."
A number of faithful and simple lovers of bel canto that literally filled the temple has been the crown to the solemn liturgies accompanied by the song of a choir from Oxford, United Kingdom, the "Scores Vocal Ensemble, directed by Thomas Primrose body and accompanied by Gabriele Damiani. The event traditionally is repeated for some years now, under the name "Music for the Spirit ", thanks to the association Friends of Music of Luigi and Federico Ricci Trieste, in order to bring the great masterpieces of liturgical polyphony through the Anglo-Saxon interpretation of choral groups, where accuracy and finesse are universally recognized executive. Quest 'year, the initiative has gained unprecedented success, despite competition from the dreaded "Ferragosto" holiday, the strong appeal of the sacred rites, celebrated in the traditional form of "Gregorian" in Latin, with the ceremonies of great pomp and circumstance.
The celebrations began on Saturday morning at 9.00 am, Solemn Mass with the third "in eve Assumptionis" celebrated by Fr Stephen Canon, parish administrator, in the evening at 19.00, s. Solemn Mass was celebrated by a young priest belonging to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, Don Gerard Gesch, ordered by His. Mo Cardinal Cañizares on 3 July to Wigratzbad that at the end of the rite, he offered to kiss the consecrated hands of the faithful, assisted by rev. deacon and the Rev. Marek Grabowski. Don Leo Sven Conrad, who served as a deacon, which also belonged to that fraternity. Assisted in the choir many priests, seminarians and ministers, especially speakers at the ceremonies, including the rev. Don Stephen Canon, with the insignia of the Order of St. Constantine George and creator of the initiative; Mgr. Pietro Paolo Piccoli, canon of the Metropolitan Chapter of L'Aquila, Abbé François Clément, singer chapter of Fribourg in Switzerland, the rev. Don Mauro Cionini of papal diplomacy. The "Scores Vocal Ensemble" gives the maximum mass execution of Orlando di Lasso "Bell'amfitrit'altera" (1583), eight items (two hearts flying) and motets by Byrd and Gabrieli, proposing the "proprium" in Gregorian chant.
The next day, at 18.30, in many attended the solemn singing of the second Vespers, presided over by Don neomista Gesch, with falsobordoni Tomas Luis de Victoria and a very charming "Magnificat" by Michael Praetorius, interrupted verses from organ, played by Gabriele Damiani tool eighteenth-century church, the oldest of Trieste. At the end, took place on the spiritual concert, offered by the choir, organ and choral music centered on the Renaissance and Baroque periods, the next day, August 16 at 9 am Solemn Mass in the third on the feast of St. Joachim, father of Mary, celebrated by the Rev.. François Clément and accompanied by the parish choir, who performed a Mass by Franz Schubert. The "Scores Vocal ensemble was dismissed by the public in Trieste with a concert of 20.45, in the church of the Blessed Virgin of Succour (vulgar" Old San Antonio), which have been proposed nineteenth-century and contemporary authors.
Despite the presence of many different linguistic and cultural backgrounds, all the participants were able to experience firsthand the unifying force of Catholic thought, even more vivid thanks to the common denominator of faith expressed by the classical Roman rite.
A warm thanks is addressed to all guests, the organizers and the authorities (Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Friuladria bank, and the Municipality of Trieste) who supported the creation of "Music for the Spirit 2010."
